The footage was captured by a camera operated by the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre, which studies life in some of the deepest, least-visited parts of the ocean. The camera was positioned near the Antarctic Peninsula, well within the waters commonly described as the Southern Ocean.
