The humanoid robot known as Atlas has been recorded walking a ‘tightrope’ of cinder blocks at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition in Florida. The footage from May 1 shows Atlas walking across a narrow pathway of zigzagging and straight blocks using a path-planning algorithm to calculate each step it should take. Researchers hope this technology one day can be used for dangerous rescue missions.(REUTERS) | Voice of America
