Class 14 “Teddy Bear” D9513 (NCB No.38) made significant progress over the weekend, completing a loaded test run from Leeming Bar to Scruton & return a couple of times. Thankfully all proved successful. D9513 will join class 14 D9523, along with WL4, 03144 and the Sentinel at our Industrial Diesel event over the bank holiday weekend (24-26 August) This is the first time we’ve held an event with all our shunters out in action. #9555 was the last of the #class14 shunters to be built, in 1965, at the Swindon works for British Rail. Only worked a couple of years for BR before being withdrawn and starting a much longer career at the National Coal Board.
